One photo, three places: Instagram, Facebook and your Google Business Profile. Do it one place at a time and you do the same job three times.

Short answer: You can post to Facebook and Instagram at the same time, for free, in Meta Business Suite. Google isn't included there. You post to Google on your Business Profile, or you use a tool that posts to all three at once, such as Buffer, Metricool or SomeSimplify.

Before you start

  • Connect Instagram to your Facebook Page. Then you can manage both from Meta Business Suite. Canva also needs it to schedule to Instagram, according to its help center.
  • Verify your Google Business Profile. Otherwise the post stays “Pending” and doesn't show on Search or Maps, according to Google.

Facebook and Instagram at the same time, for free

Meta Business Suite is Meta's own tool, and it is free. Here is how:

  1. Open Meta Business Suite on your computer (business.facebook.com) or in the app.
  2. Create a new post, and choose both your Facebook Page and your Instagram account.
  3. Add the photo or video, and write the caption.
  4. Post now, or schedule a time. Scheduled posts show in the calendar.

Google: post on your Business Profile

Google posts show on your profile in Search and Maps. The steps, as Google describes them:

  1. Go to your Business Profile.
  2. Select Posts, then Add post.
  3. Choose the type: update, offer or event.
  4. Add a photo and text, and ideally a button.
  5. To publish later, turn on Schedule this post. Otherwise select Post.

Google reviews the post before it shows. If it says “Not approved”, the question mark next to the status tells you which policy it breaks.

All three at once

If you don't want to do Google separately, you need a tool that covers all three. Buffer and Metricool post to Instagram, Facebook and Google, and both have free plans with limits. You write the caption yourself, with a writing assistant to help. In SomeSimplify the app writes the caption from your photo, you swipe to say yes, and the post goes out on all three.

Canva can schedule to Facebook and Instagram on the Pro plan, but each design goes to one platform at a time, and Google is not among its channels.

Which one fits depends on who writes. See the comparison of the apps, with prices.

Same photo, slightly different words

  • Instagram: the photo does the work. The caption can be personal, and hashtags belong here.
  • Facebook: the same caption works, and a link to your menu or bookings is clickable.
  • Google: short and factual. People see it when they are deciding where to go, so say what is on and when, and add a button.

Do you serve alcohol?

Google says businesses in regulated industries such as alcohol can use posts, but should not include content about the products. Check your local rules for Instagram and Facebook too.
